A farmer owned a large orchard which had a number of fruit trees.
One day, he saw a barren apple-tree. It no longer bore any fruit. A friend was also with him.
His friend said, “This is a useless tree, which provides shelter to birds only. You must cut it down.”
The very next day, the farmer came with his axe and got ready to cut down that barren apple-tree.
The birds living on that tree begged, “Spare this tree, Sir. If you cut it, we shall have to go elsewhere.”
The farmer replied, “It is not my problem. It will be better if you leave the tree.”
He struck at the tree with his axe. A few strokes of the axe made a hollow in the tree-trunk.
Suddenly, he saw a big honey-comb inside the hollow.
Finding a lot of honey there, the farmer threw his axe down.
A bird happily said, “We are thankful that you have dropped the idea to cut down the tree.”
The farmer replied, “This tree is really worth keeping. I must not cut it.”
Lie Never Stands For Long
Once, there was a businessman who often went abroad in connection with his business.
When Sameer grew old, his young son Sameer took over all his business.
But Sameer was very boastful by nature.
When he went for his first tour abroad, he saw many strange things. He was very thrilled to see them.
When Sameer came back, he was eager to share his wonderful experience with his friends.
When Sameer met his friends, he told them about many surprising things.
Sameer boasted his own created story, “Friends! When I was in Rome, I took part in a jumping competition.”
“What happened in the competition?” one friend asked.
Sameer boasted, “I jumped 20 feet high. I became the talk of the town.”
“How can we believe, friend?” another friend questioned.
“If you don’t believe then go to Rome and enquire,” Sameer replied bitterly.
Pat came the reply, “We needn’t go to Rome. Why can’t you show us your same feat here?” Sameer had no words to say.
Moral : No one will trust a boastful person.
