Once, a very old man came to the king’s court for help. He told the king that his son and daughter-in-law had thrown him out of the house and didn’t respect him. Hearing this Tenali promised the king he would solve the problem. After two days the old man came to the court happy saying everything had become all right.
Explaining, he said that Tenali gave him a box of gold coins and asked him to count them when the son and his wife were not in the house so that they might see him counting.
Later, Tenali took the coins back but asked him to keep the box locked with him. This made the son and his wife think that the old man had money and would give it to them later.
On account of this they had started behaving well with the old man.
