Little fairy Sunshine loved only beautiful things. When it was Sunshine’s birthday, she only invited the prettiest of fairies.
“Sunshine, outer beauty is not so important as inner beauty,” warned her mother. But Sunshine was stubborn. “I only like beautiful things,” she said. One day, her mother baked Sunshine’s favourite chocolate cake. When Sunshine saw it, she jumped out of joy. But when she took the first bite, Sunshine was surprised. It tasted like mud. Sunshine could not believe that such a beautiful cake tasted so bad. Then Sunshine’s mother brought out a plain vanilla cake, with a cracked and brown top layer. “Have a bite,” she said. Sunshine took a small bite. It was delicious with cream icing hidden in the middle. The little fairy now realised that beautiful things may not always be so good as they look. Sunshine learnt her lesson and apologised to her mother and other fairies.
