Once, Sheikh Chilli got a job as a gardener. After a few days, he was asked by the master if he could drive a horse carriage. Sheikh said he could. He was ordered, quite rudely, to drive the carriage, “We have to go somewhere. You drive the carriage!” Sheikh didn’t like his master’s tone, but did as ordered. He asked, “Where do we go?” “Keep going; I will inform you when to turn. Don’t speak till you are spoken to,” said the master roughly. Sheikh fell silent after that. After shopping, when the master’s wife was climbing back into the carriage, she dropped her purse. Sheikh saw it but kept quiet; he thought it served them right. After a while, the master’s wife screamed, “My purse is gone!” They couldn’t find it, so they asked Sheikh if he had seen the purse. “Oh yes, you dropped it while climbing in,” he said. When asked why he didn’t tell them, he said they asked him to be silent. Poor Sheikh silently lost the job, too!
