Once, Sheikh Chilli’s uncle was going to a fair to sell his horse and cow. On his way to the fair, he stopped at Sheikh’s house for the night. Sheikh’s mother confided in her brother about her constant worry regarding Sheikh’s stupid acts. Sheikh heard that and decided to go to the fair to sell off his uncle’s cow and horse and return with the money before he woke up. Then everyone would realise how clever and smart Sheikh was. So he set off. But instead of leading the horse with rope, he rode it. He tied the cow, which had a bell around its neck, with the horse’s tail. The sound of the bell would tell him that the cow was there. Sheikh was quite happy with his own smartness, till a honeybee stung the cow on its nose. The cow stopped and shook its head violently, mooing loudly in pain, resulting in pulling back the horse and the rider with a jerk. All the three tumbled on one another and fell on the side of the road. Some villagers passing by rushed to help. A bruised Sheikh returned home shamefacedly.
