Sharpen Your Skills

Once upon a time, there lived a woodcutter named Tyler. He wanted a job. So, he approached a timber merchant and got the job. His pay, the working atmosphere, everything was very good. Tyler was sure he would give it his best shot. He was given an axe by the merchant and was shown his work station. Tyler cut 18 trees on his first day. The next day, he worked harder but could cut only 15 trees. The day after that saw him getting only 10. As the days went by, he could cut fewer and fewer trees. Finally, with a lot of remorse, Tyler apologised to the merchant for his bad performance. The merchant asked Tyler when he had sharpened his axe the last time. The woodcutter answered, “I was busy cutting trees. I didn’t get time to sharpen my axe.” “One has to sharpen one’s skills from time to time in order to maintain success,” the merchant said. The woodcutter realised his mistake.
