Satyatrtha Prakasha

Swamiji preached his true knowledge in Chittaur for two months. Then he went to Bombay and propagated the ban on cow slaughter.
Then, again he was back in Rajasthan, this time at Udaipur. Maharaja gave him a rousing reception. He was put up in ‘Naulakha’ garden. He continued to preach his true Vedic dharma. On many an occasion Maharaja also was present.
One day Maharaja said to him, “Swamiji, please stop preaching against the idol worship. If you do we will appoint you Mahant of ‘Ekling Mahadeva’ temple. The temple is incredibly rich. It will get you all the pleasures one could dream of. The entire population of my kingdom will worship you.”

It annoyed Swamiji. He said, “Maharaja! No treasure can buy me off my faith. I am a man of god. Remaining true to Vedic values is all I care for. I will continue to preach against idol worship.”
The vehement reaction of Swamiji stunned the Maharaja. He tried to save his face. “What I said was to test your faith. You are a true Swami. Please forgive me and forget what I said.”
During this period Swamiji wrote “Satyartha Prakasha”. This book propagated Vedic message and made fun of orthodox clergy through funny stories loaded with wit, humour, sarcasm and ridicule. Because of the hilarity of the stories the book became the most-read literature and remained so for quiet a long period.
Its stories and anecdotes became examples and reference points.
The book also contains all the teachings of Swami Dayananda Saraswati explained in detail. It has 15 chapters and is voluminous.
Then, he received an invitation from Raja Jaswant Singh of Jodhpur. Swamiji accepted it. But his disciples were not happy.
They said, “We advise you against going there. The people of Jodhpur are the most fanatical and pigheaded. There is the danger of physical assault to you if your preachings provoke them.”
Swamiji calmly said, “True knowledge must be spread. If spreading the light means burning fingers like candles it shall be done.”
He reached Jodhpur via Ajmer, Pali and Roh.
He was well received. A large number of people came to hear his preachings. The king also arrived and stay of Swamiji was being taken care of properly. He exchanged views with Swamiji.
Swami Dayananda was put up in the garden of Faizulla Khan.
There too he delivered a sermon.
