Reincarnation

Reincarnation

Reincarnation is a popular belief amongst the Hmong people who live in the parts of China, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.

Do you know: The funerary rituals of the Hmong begin on Friday and last until Monday, when the dead is buried.

During a funeral, the Hmong people play tunes with bamboo flutes, known as the qeej, that is meant to guide the spirit of the deceased to its ancestral home. The deceased is also dressed in black-and-white clothes and special shoes. A boat filled with fake gold is placed near the deceased to aid him in his journey in the after life. Animals are sacrificed and a chicken is placed near the deceased’s head.
