The Qutub Minar is a brick minaret built in Delhi, India, in 1200 AD to 1220 AD. Made of red sandstone and marble, the Qutub Minar is a complex tapering tower. The Qutub Minar is nearly 73 metres high and tapers from a 15-metre diameter base to a mere 2.5 metres at the top. Initially, commissioned by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak, the tower is detailed with intricate carvings and verses from the Quran.
