The Pushkar camel fair had started as a way to gather all local camel traders in the time of KartikPurnima festival. The fair has evolved with more than 20,000 camels, horses and cattle. There are camel races, and even camel beauty contests organized at the fair along with singers, dancers, magicians, acrobats and snake charmers. People also attend to bathe in the local lake on the full moon nights and absolve their sins.
