Henry was the most ill-mannered prince anyone ever saw! He threw tantrums, broke things, screamed at people, spilt food and milk and was rude. The queen said, “He’s so high-spirited.” But the king was very upset. “He’s not high-spirited!” said the king, “He is a badly behaved fellow and I would not allow someone like him to be king!” He finally consulted his ministers. Someone suggested that he should have a governess. Another said teachers should be called in to teach him different things. But one minister said sensibly, “Sir, send him to a school. He’ll see other children and realise how bad his own behaviour looks. Besides, the teachers will control anything silly that he does.” The king liked this idea. The very next day, Prince Henry was sent off, kicking and screaming, to Lord’s Academy for Boys. When he returned after a year, he had become truly good!
