Commercial photography was born in Academy days vukes “Arts it sizes” on 19th August 1839 in Paris, the capital of France. For the first time Lue Dagpuere had made photograph of Dagareo type process publically. Richard Bayard, an enthusiastic boy for the first time opened portfolio making commercial studio in Britain.

Whether it be a marriage, birthday party, cultural programme, public meetings, assembly, seminar, forum—everywhere photography has its own importance.
Like music, painting, graphics and acting, photography has also established itself as an art. There are great possibilities of moving ahead as a professional in this field for those who have creativity and are devoted to this art.

The first step to success in different beauty contests and fashion shows, is photography. Before becoming Miss India, Miss World and Miss Universe, girls have to be successful as Miss photogenic. Today portfolios has become a necessary part of movies and modeling. Interested candidates have to pass through the stage of photo sessions because everyone is aware of the fact that photography can enhance the personality of a person a number of times. At International level, young beauties had proven their beauty and prudence. So have the photographers because photographers contribute a lot in flying that flag of success in the sky of fame.
Looking at the infinite possibilities of a career in the field of photography, many institutes all over the country are offering training in this course. Many universities, private institutes, and colleges recognized by U.G.C. are providing training in this art.
There are various courses which are being offered in photography. The duration of these course varies from 3 months to 3 years. For getting trained in photography high education and age factor doesn’t make any difference. Men-women of any age group are eligible for admission in any career oriented course related to photography. One year diploma course can be done for training in “Modern techniques of photography”. Under this course, during the first 6 months basic courses were taught and then advance courses in the next 6 months. In the basic courses taught to trainees knowledge is given with respect to the capacity of lenses and also regarding technical work, angle, exposure, filters, composition, subject, effects of colour, developing and printing techniques, etc.
Many Institutes and Universities offers “Certificate Course” related to photography. The duration of the course in some Institutes is 6 months while the others impart training in 3 months. In this course elementary information related to fundamentals of photography is being given. After learning the fundamentals you can open your own studio and with both black and white and coloured photography can earn your livelihood.
To seek admission in both the courses educational eligibility is 10+2 or intermediate in any class or faculty. In some private institutes, admissions were given to even 8th or 10th pass people. Then you must have knowledge of English and Hindi language. However, in every institute, English is the main medium of teaching. One special reason for this is that the technical English words used in training courses cannot be translated in Hindi. That’s why people interested in making career in photography must know English language.

The duration of degree course in photography is 3 years. Today, many universities are also teaching B.A (Hons.) in photography. For admission in this course one should have cleared 10+2 examination or arleast be intermediate with 50% marks. There is a growing demand for photographs in various news papers, magazines, books, posters and different types of advertisements. Due to this, people gets attracted can earn wealth in photography. All this has led to the increased possibilities in the field of photography. Now the use of computer is also being done in photography. After taking the photographs and getting them printed, those photographs can be stored in a digital form. Now a lot of the photographers are using even digital cameras and many news papers have started using digital photographs.
With the help of digital photography, photographs are stored as electronic memory unlike negative film. This electronic photograph can then be sent via internet anywhere, where it can again be downloaded from the computer. This is not all, with the help of computer and using special type of softwares, the digital photography can be printed according to one’s own choice or need. Like music, now it is possible to keep digital photographs in a compact disc (CD)
With the advent of digital technique, there is a revolution in the world of photo journalism. Today new photographs can be printed without any additional hard word, time and money. Hence, Photography is one career whose popularity will never end.
