Part 8. Tipu Sultan

British military has started shelling the city of Mysore. Today shells were being showered at the main gate. As planned at night, they wanted to enter the city to loot it. They want to create panic by arson and murdered innocent people. Their idea was that Hyder Ali and Tipu have feared seeing their unbounded power. Thinking the same General Demonson was away from the battlefield. He was happy thinking that tomorrow Mysore will be under his charge.
He was taking Hyder Ali and Tipu very lightly.
One of his commander was with him. Demonson said, “Commander, Hyder Ali found to be a rat. People have uselessly thought him a bugbear. Now see three days have passed, he kept himself closed in the fort. I think he did not face a warrior till now.”
“You are right General.”
‘‘And that Tipu! People say he possesses an electric sword. Where is that sword? Where is that current?”
“You are once again right, Sir.”
On the other side the situation of war was going to be changed. Suddenly the main gate of the city opened and Mysore army entered the battle field like a storm. Appeared with a terrific thunder the army of Tipu started a fierce encounter. Seeing Tipu facing the British military the commanders amazed.
Both the armies collided. Horse riders clashed with horse riders and infantry struck over British soldiers like bees. All arms were in action.
Some of the soldiers of Tipu beheaded the British gunners. The cannons of the British became silent.

British soldiers were slaughtered. Tipu with his blood thirsty sword played a havoc on British solders.
Battle field converted into graveyard.
Within no time Mysore army drove away the British army. British commander were encouraging their soldiers, but the terror of Tipu’s sword was pushing them back.
Thereafter—
Battle continued till evening. Hundreds of soldiers of the British army were killed and thousands wounded.

War was over. Both the armies returned to their camps. Tipu’s army entered the city with much fanfare. The news of Tipu’s victory had been spread there already. Entire city had gathered on roads. As horse of Tipu entered the main gate the slogans echoed the air—“Native land (Bharat Mata)—Long live.”
“King of Mysore.”
“Long live.”
“Commander Tipu.”
“Long live.”
“Mysore State”
“Long live.”
People showered flowers on Tipu and his army. Tipu waving his hand reached the palace. Hyder Ali himself was at the main entrance to welcome him. Hyder Ali stretched his arms as Tipu alighted the horse.
“Tipu my son! Now I am assured that you are quite eligible to become the king of Mysore by all aspects. Tipu! You only will become king and illuminate my name. I pride over you my child.”
After Hyder Ali Tipu went towards Deewan.
Deewan embraced him cheerfully and said, “I am proud of you my son.”
Tipu said, “Your fear was baseless. Actually, the King and you treat me like a child even today. I went to war with determination that either I will sacrifice my life for motherland or massacre the Britons.”
“Long live my boy.” Deewan held his both hands and said, “Where there are warriors like you, enemy can’t stay.”
Hyder Ali and Deewan took him inside.

On the other side…
British General Demonson was busted in extreme anger over his commanders—“Go to hell, you cowards. Being British commanders you lost to black Indians. They slayed the white army. Where is your valour. When those black monkeys were slaughtering white army what were you doing then?”
There was complete silence in the camp. All commander were standing with bowed heads. None dared to raise his head infront of General Demonson.
“Why are you quiet?” General Demonson roared again. “Is it your valour that a young prince of a small state made you rats. How can you dream to conquer the whole India?”
Then one of the commander gathered courage and said, “Mysore army attacked all of a sudden. They are terrific warriors and…and Tipu has no answer in the battle field. There is a current in his sword.”
“An inexperienced prince…you call him a warrior.”
‘‘He is not inexperienced sir. If you face him then you would accept him a terrific warrior. He is a gale, a storm. You will have to kept this thought in your mind that he…”
“Shut up. Keep silence. You are praising the enemy. You want to tell me that I am coward and he is gallant.”
“Not only Tipu, every soldier of Mysore army is a Tipu. They fight like tigers. It is not a child’s play to win over them.”
“What our large army for? Alas!” General nodded his head in shame. “I am very nervous to know your views.”
“It you don’t have faith in me then you see by your own eyes how Tipu fights.”
“You are timid, coward. If you can’t speak favourably then keep silence.”
All kept mum. None dared to utter.
There was pin drop silence in the camp.
