Joseph was the village idiot. Everyone laughed at him and played pranks to make a fool of him. One day, he got so upset that he ran away from the village. When he stopped for the night at an inn, the innkeeper asked him where he was going. “I have nowhere to go,” said Joseph. “In that case you had better stay and work here,” said the clever innkeeper. Joseph became his servant. Some days later, a nobleman came and found that Joseph had polished his shoes wonderfully. “Where have you been hiding?” he asked Joseph. “I had nowhere to go, so the innkeeper gave me this job,” replied Joseph. The nobleman took Joseph to the court where he served the king so well that the king made him a soldier soon! And the princess fell in love with him and they were married. Joseph had found where to go after all!
