The one who has been away from the harsh realities of life doesn’t know the weight of another’s burden. Only those people who had borne pain and sufferings can realise the plight of others.
For instance, take the example of Mr. X. He is a wealthy businessman. He has been born with a silver spoon in his mouth. His parents gave him abundant love and affection and pampered him beyond limits. Numerous servants were kept to take care of him. Since, he has been living in luxurious surroundings from his very childhood, he is not aware of the plight of the poor people, who are making their living with great hardships. He has not seen poverty and diseases, thus he doesn’t have sympathies for diseased and poor people as he is ignorant of their miseries.
Take another example of Miss. Y. She is the only daughter of wealthy parents. She has never seen the dark side of life. One day, she was invited by the workers of her factory to have lunch with them. She was astonished to see the pathetic condition of the labourers.
The labourers were living in terrible conditions and did not even have the basic necessities of life. They did not have even a fan to protect themselves from the scorching heat of summer. They did not have sufficient food to eat. They did not have a proper shelter to live. They had anyhow arranged a little money to buy the lunch comprising of a vegetable and rice for Miss Y. Miss Y was extremely sad to see their condition. She had never known the weight of another’s burden till she saw the miserable condition of the poor people with her own eyes. Miss Y took a vow to improve their condition.
She took 10 lakhs rupees from her wealthy father and distributed them among all the labourers, so that they were able to provide basic necessities of life to themselves and their families. She promised to give educational allowance every month, so that their children were able to complete their studies.
The labourers thanked her and prayed to God to shower his blessings upon her. From these examples, it is evident that ‘No-one knows the weight of another’s burden’.
