The Germans were the people of the battle ravaged land. All through the centuries they had been fighting factional wars, kingdom wars, social and racial wars and continental wars. The wars had become an inevitable fact of their lives. Over the centuries the wars cast the Germans into a race of military mindset. To every problem Germans habitually sought military solutions. Hitler was a part of them and understood the mindset. He always made it a point to appeal to the military mind of Germans.
When Versai Treaty made thousands upon thousands of young Germans unemployed, Hitler’s Nazi Party enrolled their services and created a dead force of storm troops to further its political agenda.
The ex-soldier force had two wings. One was storm troops (Strum Abtiling). They used to wear grey shirts with red arm bands and Swastik sign on it. Its duty was to demonstrate the muscle power of Nazi Party of enthuse its supporters, to provide security at Nazi meetings and to create trouble in the meetings of the opponents.
The other wing was called S.S. (Party Security Guards). Its troops used to wear black shirts with skull logos. Their duty was to provide security to Nazi leaders and to carry out their orders.
Thousands of youths joined Hitler’s volunteer forces besides the ex-soldiers. Thus, Hitler’s Nazi Party had virtually armies of its own.
The government did not pay attention to this army raising activity of Nazi Party. It gave Hitler a chance to create formidable forces that could use massive strongarm tactics against its opponents and browbeat them.
