The use of medicine had been first started by the primitive men as herbal remedies. It is found in the 25,000 years old sketches present in the Lascaux caves of France that evident that the primitive people in France used plants for remedial purposes. Later, medicines were invented by the Egyptians. Around 3000 BC, the Egyptians used medicines to cure diseases. They also carried out general surgeries. Thereafter, many medicines and surgical instruments were invented by the Romans to perform cataract operations. Joseph Lister brought renewal in medicine with the invention of antiseptic. He explained the significance of antiseptic to the people. After this invention, the field of medicine experienced many renewals. Gregor Mendel provided Law of Mendel; theories of germs were explained by Louis Pasteur and Charles, invention of ECG and X-ray, penicillin. There are some more contribution to the inventions of medicine. Crick and Watson came with the knowledge of DNA, medicines for kidney and heart diseases and cancer relief medicines.
