Try this one in your head, using mental maths…
Step 1
Ask a friend to think of a number between 1 and 10.
Example: 8
Step 2
Get him to double it.
Example: 16
Step 3
Ask him to add 10 to the answer.
Example: 26
Step 4
Then get him to divide by 2.
Example: 13
Step 5
Ask him to tell you what number he now has.
Example: 13
Step 6
You subtract 5 from this and tell him what his original number was.
Example: 13—5 = 8
Note: If you wish to take turns to practices your mental maths, you can also use 2-and 3-digit numbers to make it harder!
