Manatees are large aquatic mammals that are up to 13 feet long and weigh up to 590 kg. A large upper lip is used to gather food and for communication. Their small eyes have eyelids that close in a circular manner. Surfacing for air regularly, these herbivores feed on freshwater and salt water plants. Its lifespan is 60 years.
