When all movement of air stopped, everything came to a standstill and human beings, devas, asuras, animals and plants, all began to struggle for breath. All the gods, including Indra, went to Vayu in desperation and begged his pardon for hurting his son. When Vayu forgave them, Hanuman was revived and blessed by them with immortality. No weapon or natural force like fire would harm him; and he was given all the wisdom, power and great qualities by the gods. “It is this that makes you a unique devotee of Sri Rama,” explained Jambavan, “You have the qualities bestowed by the gods, the speed of Vayu, and the wisdom to use your strength properly. Please increase your stature so that you may cross the ocean to reach Lanka.” With his faith in Sri Rama and the inspiration of Jambavan, Hanuman grew in size till he stood before them like a huge mountain.
