One day, a rich man took his son on a trip. He wanted to show him how poor someone could be and how poor people live. He took him to a poor farmer’s family in a village. They spent time with the farmer’s family. On the way back home, the man asked, “Did you see how they are living? What did you learn?” The son said, “We have one dog; they have four; we have a pool; they have rivers! We have lanterns at night; they have stars; we buy food; they grow theirs; we have walls to protect us; they have friends.” The man was surprised at his son’s keen observation. When they headed towards their home, the son said, “Thanks Dad, for showing me how poor we are.” The man learnt one important lesson that day, ‘It is not money that makes us rich or poor; it is the way we live.’
