Hide and Seek

Alan pressed his face against the wall and started counting. The other four boys dispersed; he could hear their feet scuffling on the floor. He found Jeff under the bed; George was hiding behind the curtains and Marshal was in the bathroom. Now, he had to find Julian. ‘Let me check the attic,’ Alan thought. He crept into the attic; the light bulb had fused. In the semi-darkness, his eyes adjusted themselves to low light. He felt his way through the dusty room and the furniture. No one was there at all! As he turned back, he heard sounds. Someone was breathing. Alan strained his eyes. From below the old coffee table in the corner, a foot was sticking out. “Juliannnnn, I caught you,” he was about to shout, when from below, a voice called out. “Alan! Come down; it’s tea time.” It was Julian’s voice. Alan scrambled down in haste
