Sheikh Chilli and his three friends once went to a fair. Now, Sheikh’s friends were also fools like him. A river had to be crossed to reach the fair. This was the first time that all of them were crossing a river, so they told one another to be careful. Shouting loudly, they reached the other side. Sheikh wanted to check if all had reached. So he counted, one, two, three… He did not count himself and shouted with concern, “Oh no! We are just three. One of us has been drowned!” As Sheikh started crying, another friend said he would count. He, too, did not count himself and started crying like Sheikh. The two remaining friends also counted in similar manner and then all four of them were crying loudly for the one person who had been drowned. They returned home and Sheikh’s mother asked why they were crying. They told their sad tale. Sheikh’s mother tapped Sheikh on his head and said, “One”. Similarly, she counted to four, tapping each one’s head. And, all four friends were greatly relieved.
