Hatim said to the king, “When you meet the dragon, tell him that the king from the neighbouring state has refused to give him the daughter of the village.” The king did as he was told. The dragon got very angry and demanded to meet the other king. Hatim told him he could meet only if he followed the ancient customs to prove his friendship. For that, the dragon had to drink first a cup of water from the jug of friendship. In this water, Hatim had dipped the magical pearl. As soon as the dragon drank it, his evil powers were reduced. Hatim then asked him to enter a small jar and sit in it for some time. The dragon did as he was told. Hatim quickly placed the lid on the jar and threw it into the burning fire destroying the genie forever.
