After making name in wheels (Tata Motors, Truck, Buses, Cars, Nano, Jaguar & Land Rover) Tatas trying consciously to take to wings by entering the field of aircraft manufacture. A deal is being tried to be struck with Embrair of Brazil, the third largest aircraft manufacturers of the world.
This Brazilian Company is the lone one that is manufacturing 120 seater commercial jet aircraft. It has huge back log of orders from all over the world and buyers are lining up. By March 31, 2008 it had a huge backlong of orders worth $20,300,000,000. For collaboration Tata Group and Embrair held long intensive negotiations. Because of the impressive track record in industrial field Tata Group is being considered as a serious contender. The proposed plant is to be set up in India.
In February, 2008 the US aircraft giant Boeing and Tatas had agreed to set up company under joint collaboration. According to this deal work would be undertaken to fulfil a 500 milion dollar Defence aeronautic components. The products would be exported to Boeing and its international buyers. According to the MOU by June, 2008 the new company would be set up and work would start immediately.
