First Aid is the treatment given to the patient in emergency cases till the doctor arrives at the accident site.
The first thing to do in the emergency cases is to call upon some people for help. Check breathing, if it stopped then keep your mouth on the patients’s mouth and give mouth to mouth resuscitation. Then examine the pulse of the patient, if the heart is not beating perform CPR (Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation). Apply pressure on the bleeding area to stop it. Keep calm and make the victim calm.
Always keep a First Aid kit containing elastic bandages, dettol, adhesive bandages, cotton-tipped swabs, adhesive tapes, thermometer, safety pins, ice pack, eye-cup, hot water bottle and scissors.
Also add medicines like Ibrufen, Antihistamines, Paracetamol, Antacid, Crocin and sterile eye wash in your First Aid kit.
You have to handle different cases in a different way. In cases of electric shocks, don’t touch the patient. Push the patient away with a wooden stick, till the electricity is twined off. Call for medical help.
In cases of burns, apply ice-water until pain eliminates, Apply antiseptic cream on the burnt area. If the burns are severe call for the doctor.
To treat the patients of heat stroke, firstly remove the patient from the heat and apply cool and wet cloths to his skin. Give the patient water to drink.
If any part of the body is lost, then preserve the limb, so that it could be reattached by the time you reach the hospital.
First Aid can save numerous lives, if the treatment is given as early as possible to the patient.
