Effect of Good Determination

Those human beings who have optimistic and positive thoughts always look forward towards the brighter side of life itself, whereas persons with pessimistic or negative thoughts are unable to see the beauty of the rose and always begin the talks with the feel of the thorns, and their piercing effect. Positive and optimistic outlook always gives birth to our pure, pious thoughts. These determinants falling under this category are called good/pure determinants or ‘Shiv Sankalp’. These pure determinants have such a positive impact on our sub-conscious mind that they do not allow the negative thoughts to enter.

RESOLUTION STEADFAST
He who is established and unshaken; he who is alike in pleasure and pain, who is the same in pleasant and unpleasant, in praise and blame and steady, he who is alike in honour and dishonour, the same to friend and foe, giving up all selfish undertakings, he is said to have crossed beyond the qualities of Nature. And he who, crossing over these qualities, serves ME with unwavering devotion, becomes fit to attain oneness with the Supreme.

Need for Good Determination

“ Tanmay Manah Shiv Sankalp Mastu”
Yajurveda 3411
“ My unstable mind should have pure determination”
A pure determined mind is always worshipped in the Vedas; therefore, we should always keep our mind filled with pure determination. Bad thinking and destructive ideas lead us to our downfall. It is a universal truth that whatever we think, we speak the same; whatsoever is spoken by us, we act accordingly and the way we act, we become and are shaped accordingly. The principle of speech and action is accepted universally. “ Avashay Mev Bhoktavyam Kritam Karm Shubha Shubham.”
“ Karni Kare to Kyon Daray, Karke Kyon Pachtaye.
Boya Ped Babool ka, to Aam Kahan Se Khaye”
“Determination is the ladder to success. Even to accomplish small goals of life, one has to be determined. Determination is the inspiration to all the activities. In case you have decided to pass an examination, you have to concentrate with all your energies. To realise your true goals you have to dedicate your whole life. The stronger the desire of dedication, the sooner shall the results be achieved.”
— Rajendra Sharma
Our determination is the foundation of the ambitions. The basic desires of our life are achieved through strong determination, fasts and discipline. All religious works are also accomplished by hard determination. Strong determination brings happiness and prosperity in our lives, whereas destructive and poor determination creates sorrows in life. They make us dissatisfied and full of tensions.

Our mental capabilities are our true servants. They truly give us what we desire and aspire for. If we trust therein, they can also provide us with goodies, but during the fearful state of mind our capabilities also get scared and a person with constant negative thoughts and who wants the incidents are beyond our control.
On the contrary, people with a creative and positive outlook can not only influence the circumstances but also they have the power to change these conditions. It would not be out of place to mention that creative people are the only ones who are able to accomplish the great jobs. Those people who want to do something new and different in their lives, are constantly restless and uneasy. Such people are always workaholics and they have courage, desire, ambition and are full of zeal. By virtue of these qualities, they present a new contribution to the world and register their names in the history.
All these creative people come across certain social elements, who discourage them and destroy their self-confidence and talents by using sentences like “You are not fine for the post”, “You are not well acquainted with the intricacies of this business”, or “You do not have requisite talent for the job”. All these discouraging comments lead to the destruction of the creativity.
Such sentences lead to a bitter mind, whereby one is hesitant to undertake even small jobs, as his creativity comes to an end. When the desire to perform diminishes, one does not possess the requisite power. The most important works also become unimportant. Thus a talented person becomes a sheer waste. Any job about which one is highly determined, requires a strong belief in oneself till its accomplishment. To complete the desired task we should have a burning desire, and put to use all the mental and physical power in our possession. The more clear our goals and accomplishments are, the stronger will our courage, zeal be. Our success is directly proportional to our mental concentration. It can also be said that our mental powers are the images of our optimism and determination.
Our mind controls our determination. Mind is a subtle part of our body. Although it is a materialistic instrument yet it is highly affected by our eating habits. That is why it has been said:
“ Jaisa Khaye Ann, Vaisa Bane Man
Jaisa Piye Pani, Vaisee Bole Vanni.”
Thus, we should include only vegetarian dishes in our meals to purify our thoughts.
Memorisation of Good Determination
The recalling of good determination and etiquettes makes our lives full of pride. This glory blossoms our personality and outlook. By continuous remembrance of these qualities a situation is created, whereby they become part of our sub-conscious mind. Even the negative thoughts and circumstances cannot shake our confidence under these circumstances. It is such a condition where a human being feels to be the most satisfied person.
To memorise the good resolutions, we should meticulously repeat the following psychological thoughts, which should be re-called from morning itself.
Learn to Express your feelings
( Accept these thoughts with a pure heart)

  • I shall express my feelings openly.
  • I shall incline myself towards creativity.
  • The divine power of the Almighty is with me always.
  • God helps me at each and every step, and at any given time and under all circumstances. Whatsoever He makes me do, will be in my benefit.
  • I shall make my ability and capabilities better by each passing day.
  • I am complete in all respects and love myself for being so.
  • I shall love others in the same manner as I love myself. Happiness is not a commodity which can be purchased from the market. So, to be happy means to remain happy.
  • It’s God’s will the way I am, and it is also this will what others are. It is the truth that I cannot be like others, nor any one else can be like me.

Resolutions
One day while strolling in the heavenly forest, Mandhata reached under a divine tree-Kalptaru. No sooner he walked under than the spell of desires broke out and he wished for a beautiful palace and beheld it was just there. No sooner this desire of his fulfilled than he wished for wine and beautiful women, which also appeared within a wink. All of a sudden, he visualized that he would forbade very if only Lord Indra would come to know. The very next moment, he found himself in broken pieces lying on the earth. In a nutshell, this very human is Mandhata and this world is the divine tree, Kalptaru, where whatever one desires so he begets.

In case, we truly determine that we are entitled to all the goods of this world, to achieve all the riches, and keep on announcing regularly that our target is extraordinarily supreme, which is apparent from our nature and manners. We solemnly resolve that we have full control over our working abilities, free from all diseases, and will never be influenced by ignorance and instability of mind, that be sure that we can do so.
We can make ourselves so courageous, active and powerful rather than to destroy things, create the most beautiful objects, and can achieve the most arduous post for which we have been dreaming of. The objective of our being creative is to be free from all diseases, ignorance and full of happiness and success. We have been so designed that we can create and discover new objects by sheer hard work and talent. Destructive and negative thoughts mean illness, poverty and dull-headedness.
Creative thinking is the guardian of the person. It saves man from ignorance and the instability of mind and thought. In the society of defeated disappointed persons, only those persons are associated whose thoughts are negative and destructive. In other case, the persons of creative ability and positive thinking are the members of the winners club. Enthusiasm, inspiration, hard work, courage and industry are the most safe guarding capabilities of a person. So agreeing upon a proposition where it is to be negated, is due to a defective thought-process.
A man with negative thinking can never take a right decision on the opportunities coming on his way at a right time. When we keep on repeating the mistakes time and again, display cowardice in place of courage, walk over when there is a need to stop when we are completely worn out, be pessimistic instead of being optimistic, and do not hesitate to run over others for want of happiness, then our entire thought-process is always destructive and negative. When we turn our back on our duties, our position is similar to that of a cowardly and lost person.
All positive thoughts come under the category of high resolutions as per our desires. Most of the famous and Vedic Mantras come under the same category, viz. Gayatri Mantra, early hour and late hour Shlokas, etc.

Impact and Effectiveness of Determination
King Bhishek Anangpal always bathed in sweet-smelling waters of different odours, viz Sandal, Rose, Kevra. But he realized one day the bathing water contained all together a different and strange odour which he had never experienced earlier. Still spellbound, he called upon the attendant and asked him, “ Which type of perfume has been mixed in the bathing water today?” Fearing something wrong, the attendant replied, “I am not aware, but a newly appointed attendant has prepared your bath. If you so desire I may produce her before you.” The king replied in the affirmative, and the attendant was summoned up to him.
The king questioned the attendant, “Which fragrance was used today?” The attendant replied,” No perfume was mixed in today’s bathing water, but the water was brought from her parents’ house. Surprised at this, the king enquired, where her parents’ house was and whether that water belonged to a certain well or a perfumed pond. The attendent replied in the negative and said that her house was at the foot of mountain Gandhmadhan, and the water was brought from there.
“Was the water then prepared by your father? Is he a perfume-maker?” asked the king. The attendant replied, “ O My Lord, this water has not been made by my father, but there is an ashram near our village, wherein lives a hermit. Near the ashram, there lies a pond, which remains filled with water throughout the year. This water belongs to that pond only, and I specially brought this water for you only.”
Hearing this, the king’s happiness knew no bounds and he readied himself to visit the ashram, after suitably rewarding the attendant. After two days’ hard journey, the king reached the ashram. The king observed that the entire place was filled with a sweet smell that he had experienced. He bowed and saluted the sage, and enquired as to where from that sweet smell was coming.
The sage smiled and replied, “O Lord, there is a tree about 100 miles from here, of which I continuosly keep on meditating, and it’s due to it that this ashram is always filled with its sweet fragrance.”
“ By sheer remembrance, it is an impossible task, O Lord; but you may understand that it is all due to strong determination only. By the virtue of the power of strong belief and determination a person can not only change his life, but also is in a position to control the atmosphere as per his desires, My Lord.”
The king could not lay hands on the perfumed flower but returned back with the knowledge of the divine which was priceless.
