East India Company in India

The aim of East India Company to come to India was to earn financial advantages. But they got the easy situations that officers of company did not miss a chance to gain due to indiferrence among rulers, mutual disunion and miserable circumstances. They used to send company directors after told them the political situation to get political advantages. But Company directors had no intention to take interest in Indian politics.
This situation remained till 1757.
Many Governer Generals reached and returned. In that duration Governor General Lord Veleselly came to India. Till then there had been some changes in company’s policies. Now board was not so against to interfere in Indian politics but this too was not desired at the cost of financial loss.
Veleselly made a plan that agreeable to company. This was such a plan, by which company may not get financial loss and British might prove their authority over India. The plan is to crush the civilization, culture and indidendence of the Indians.
Divide and rule
His policy was divide and rule.
He started sowing seeds of discontent among Indian native states. Graduaty by his cuning policies he captured some states under company control.
Veleselley got framed British army and deployed them with the pretext of safety to the weakery Kings. Kings had to bear the expenses of British armies. The incapable states were compeled to part away some of its part in leiu of expenses of the army.
In the begining small states fell victim to this craftiness. Later on Nizam, Peshwa, Gayakwad and big states to compelled to make treaty with the British. Thus during the tenure of Veleselly British streched their hands on Indian states.
Arrival of dalhousie
Dalhousie came to India after Veleselly. He was in hand his own game plans.
Dalhousie ended the freedom of Kings. Only that inheritor could sit on royal seat whom company directors desire.
Dalhousie wished whole India under British empire.
And discontentment against him begins from here.
After ending Peshwaism the royal seat of Chhattrapati of Satara was terminated. On the other side after the death of Maharaja Ranjit Singh he captured entire Punjab.
Arkot was a state in south whose ruler helped the British against the French.
But as the ruler of Arkot died, British ejected his descen-dants and take control of the state too.
Tanjore state also met the same fate.
Nizam Hyderabad was the defender of the British and had full confidence in their friendship. But British did not spare even him and as army expenses Dalhousie took the Basar area in lieu of that amount.
It was no so that British has not pay for this success. Several times they were brow beaten, but they were deceful it, whereas Indian rulers were true to their words. They were deceived by the British.
Appa Sahib Bhonsle was the king of Nagpur. He was a self-respected man of independent nature. British army attacked him Appa Sahib and his valiant army caused great losses to the British. But how long they could face the mighty British. Finally Appa Sahib was called for pact in British Camp where deceptive British arrested him. Thus it took no time to unfare British flag over Nagpur.
