A rotten apple injures its companions
One should not keep bad company. We get spoiled by keeping friendship with ignorant and senseless people. Such kind of people influence us in a wrong way and ruin our lives. They prompt us to drink liquor, take drugs, misbehave with women and children, waste out money in gambling and idle away our precious time in gossip, instead of working hard for our livelihood. Such kind of persons are like the rotten apple that injures its companions. Therefore, beware of such people and never keep their company, else you shall lead your life to degradation.
Avarice is the root of all evils
One should not become greedy for materialistic things. It makes the person evil and is the main cause of his downfall. Just take the example of Mr X. He is an engineer and is leading a reasonably comfortable life. He lives in a big apartment and has all the gadgets to live comfortable life. Yet he is not contented with what he has. He wants more and more. Therefore, he made a plan to kidnap a wealthy businessman and extort money from his family alongwith his other friends. He succeed in kidnaping the businessman, but caught by the police and sent to the jail. A greedy person can kill, murder, steal and do heinous crimes. Greed is the root of all evils.
As the king, so are the subjects
The leader must be honest and selfless. The people follow their leaders. If they are corrupt, they become corrupt, if they are honest, they become honest. They imitate the faults and virtues of their leaders. Therefore the leader must possess the sensibility to discriminate between right and wrong and he must do virtuous deeds to set a good example before the people.
Beggars and Borrowers could not be chooser
A beggar or a debtor cannot be selective in his demands for money and things. He has to accept whatever is given to him by the benefactors? If a person wants to fulfill his wishes and demands, then he must do that with his own money, because the beggars and the borrowers can’t be the chooser.
Contentment is happiness
A contented person is always happy. He doesn’t desire for more things. He is satisfied with what he has. If he has a black and white T.V, he shall not wish for a colour T.V. He won’t compare and contrast his own possessions with others. He leads a life, free of tensions. He remains carefree and in cheering spirits, because he is contented with what he has, and contentment is happiness.
Fortune favours the brave
One must not lead a cowardly life and must face the obstacles and difficulties of life bravely. If we shirk from the responsibilities of life, we live a cowardly life and die a cowardly death. We must look after our parents in old-age and our children in youth with responsibility. If we become scared of obstacles and responsibilities then fortune shall not favour us, we shall die a miserable death of a coward. Therefore, we must face the life boldly, as the fortune favours the brave.
God’s will be done
God’s will is supreme. Nothing in the world can be done without his will. Not a leaf can move without his will. Everything is under his control. The Sun, Moon, Earth and all the other planets in the universe move with his command. The cycle of death and birth revolves according to his command. If you think you can change the circumstances or destiny according to your will, then it’s wrong. Nothing can be done without the command of God. Only God can change your circumstances and destiny. Therefore, pray earnestly to him and let Gods will be done.
Fool to others to himself a sage
One should not talk much about his achievements. A boaster is disliked by people. People start considering him a fool. They mock at boasters and make fun of him. A boaster might consider himself the most intelligent person in the world. But he appears a fool to others. Thus don’t glorify your own achievements, but let your deeds speak about you.
High winds blow on high hills
High people talk about high things, just like high winds that blow on high hills. They don’t quarrel over petty issues. They render help to others without obligation, and without demanding anything from other in return. They have the heart to give others liberally. They talk about big things and don’t indulge in cheap gossip.
Guilty conscience is always suspicious
A person who is guilty of having done something wrong can never live in peace. He is always scared of getting exposed in the public for his evil deeds. A criminal, who has murdered a wealthy man for vested interest, keeps on running here and there with a fear of getting caught by the police. A criminal can’t fearlessly talk to anyone. He gets nervous while talking to others. He is suspicious of getting caught as he has a guilty conscience and the guilty conscience is always suspicious.
Don’t trust others blindly
We should not trust others blindly else, we may get cheated by them. Some people are very cunning. They become friendly to you and pretend to be cultured and polite, but are something else inside. Take the example of my servant Bubbly. She used to talk like a kind hearted woman before us. She would say, I don’t even see what others are eating or doing, but was a thief infact. She would steal away our money whenever she got an opportunity to do so. There are many people like her waiting to befool innocent persons. Beware of them and save yourself from these shrewd elements of the society.
Enhance your inner beauty
More than outer appearance, it’s essential to enhance your inner beauty. One should possess the inner qualities of love, forgiveness, selflessness, large heartedness and compassion for other beings on the earth. Besides this, one must have the virtues of patience and tolerance. The inner qualities make the ugliest person of the world look beautiful. Take the example of Mahatma Gandhi and Sarojini Naidu who were not externally beautiful, but they won over the heart of millions due to their internal qualities. Thus, one should pay more attention to one’s inner beauty, rather than outer appearance, because external beauty fades away with time but inner beauty lasts forever.
Poverty breeds strife
Poverty is a great curse upon the mankind. It is one of the main causes of quarrels and conflicts in the family. Take the example of Mr. X. who has lost his job recently. He wife keep on demanding money for the household expenses, but he has no money to give. Everyday, there is a quarrel in the house due to this reason. Therefore, one must work hard and earnestly pray to God to eliminate poverty, else the life becomes troublesome and quarrelsome, as it is a truth that ‘Poverty breeds Strife.’
Quit not certainty for hope
We should not lose hope in the midst of difficulties of life. We must see the bright side of things, we must hope that the things would get better. If we think positively, then we do positive deeds, if we think negatively, then obviously our deeds will be negative. For example, an unemployed person named John has left hope of getting a job, he keeps on thinking negative and becomes depressed, He thinks that he shall never get a job in his life and therefore commits suicide, but another unemployed youth named Tom is hopeful of getting a good job. He keeps on doing efforts consistently and one day he gets a call letter for a good post from a private company. Finally he gets a job. We must see the bright side of the things and quit not certainty for hope, only then can we attain success in life.
Respect yourself and you will be respected
One must respect oneself, only then do the others respect him, else the people don’t give any respect. The people respect the self-respectful persons. A person should not allow others to abuse or insult him, when there is no reason to do so. He must scold the person who insults him without any rhyme or reason. But inspite of that a person also must learn to respect others, only then others would respect him. We must not lose our character if we want to be respected. Only a person of good character can respect himself, and you gain respect from others only when you respect yourself.
No pains, no gains
One can’t attain success in life without preparation and hardwork. We have to overcome the failures of life, with abundant patience to emerge as a winner. We have to tolerate insults, and cross the obstacles of life, if we want to become successful personalities. Life is full of hurdles and difficulties. We must overcome them, because by taking no pains, we shall not be able to gain anything in our life, because it is a truth that, ‘No pains, No gains’.
To make a mountain of a molehill
Some people are in the habit of turning small issues into the big issues. They make a mountain out of a molehill. The mother-in-law fights violently with her daughter-in-law if her daughter-in-law pours a little more salt in the food, if she doesn’t allow her to go for an outing with her husband. The brothers fight with each other on small issues like food, clothes and money. Big fights occurs on small matters. People make mountain out of molehills.
To make castles in the air
Some of us are not practical. We keep on making castles in the air. We keep on imagining those things which are not possible. Take an example of a person named David. David is working as a clerk in the bank, but he wishes to become the Chairman of the bank. He imagines as if he is sitting in the office of the Chairman and everyone including his boss, the bank manager is saluting him. He keeps on making castles in the air.
Union is strength
We must be united in the time of crisis. Unity is strength. One can’t fight the battle of life alone. One becomes weak if he doesn’t have others to co-operate with him. We need other people to become strong. If we protest against injustice all alone, we shall be overpowered by others, but if we unitedly protest against the wrongs of others, we shall be heard because ‘Unity is Strength.’
Cleanliness of soul
As the body is cleaned by fresh water, the same way the soul should be cleaned with God’s name. Repetation of Gods name cleanses the soul from its sins. It is due to our sins that we suffer punishments, if the sins are cleansed, we don’t get any punishments. Therefore, if we want to save overselves from the punishments of our sins, we must repeat God’s name at least for twenty minutes daily, the more we repeat his name, the less punishments shall be for our sins, as the God’s name cleanses our sins.
To rob peter to pay paul
There are some people in the world who are kind to one and cruel to another. Take for an example Mr. Sam. He is a businessman. He is jealous of one of his brilliant engineers, named Mark. As he is jealous of Mark, he keeps on insulting him before other employees. He also does not pay him his full salary with one excuse or the other, but Mark is liberal to other employees. He pays them more money than their salaries. Sam is not basically a good person. He robs Peter and pay Paul.
Be a logician
Logic is the science of reasoning. A logician is a person who practices logic. You should be a logician who doesn’t take any action without reasoning.
We must know the reason of everything before taking any action, because that is the most sensible approach of life. Doing things without reasoning ends is up nowhere. We take wrong steps and face drastic consequences of our foolish actions, if we don’t reason out the things. Thus be a logician if you want to attain success in life.
My childhood memories
I was somewhat different than other children. I was very brilliant in sports, acting, dances and in my favourite subject English, but I would get bored in subjects like History. I would not study in those subjects. Secondly I would not put in my best efforts in studies. If I would have studied hard, I would have gained first position in the class, as I was gifted with a genius brain. I regret for not studying hard in my childhood and wish that I should again become a child and study hard this time to pass all exams with flying colours.
My favourite dish
My favourite dish is Choco-delight. Oh, its so yummy and delightful in taste. But it’s very simple to prepare it. Just add two teaspoons of custard and two teaspoons of chocolate with one tablespoon of milk mix it up together. Boil half a glass of milk and pour the mixture in it. Add sugar. After three minutes, take it off from the gas and add Marie biscuits immediately. Keep it in the freezer for two hours. Take it off and eat. It’s really very delicious dish.
