Distribution of Electricity in India (Social)

Electricity is one of the primary requirements of the human being. Just like water, food, clothes and shelter, one needs electricity to survive in the hot summer days and in the acute cold weather. Life is impossible without electricity in the modern times. Nearly, all the small-scale industries and large-scale industries consume electricity directly or indirectly.
The modern gadgets like Computer, Television, Radio, Fans, Air conditioners etc. work with electricity. Life becomes horrible without electricity, thus there is no doubt that electricity is an essential part of our life.
It is a sad plight that various state governments has given the task of electricity supply to the private companies, who are too much profit oriented, therefore, they don’t supply electricity properly to slum clusters and rural areas. There are frequent power cuts and for it one or the other is made to defend their wrong doings. The poor people have to work in miserable conditions of extreme heat and cold and thus numerous of them fall sick and die. Secondly, the private companies are distributing electricity only to mint money, not with the intention to serve the society. The electronic metres runs very fast, these days, and consumers has to pay huge electricity bills to satisfy the demand of the electricity supply undertakings else, they has to face their wrath.
The government should not give this responsibility to the private companies. The public give their precious votes to the politicians to form the government, who could care for their needs, but some politicians of vested interests tend to accumulate the nation’s money for their personal use and do nothing for the poor people.
The Government must frame laws for the benefit of the poor people and take strict actions against the corrupt elements, who create obstacles in the progress of the country by stealing away the nation’s wealth for their self-interest. The electricity undertakings should provide electricity to rural areas at low cost and ensure proper supply of electricity to the poor localities so that the downtrodden and slum dwelling people should get some relief from the miseries of the life.
