DEMON SHANKHCHOOR

It was the festival of Holi in Vrindavan. At night, Krishna and Balrama went to roam about in Vrindavan. The gopis also followed them. While they all were roaming in the fields, a demi-god, named Shankhchoor, came wandering to Vrindavan. He was the servant of Kubera, the lord of the wealth. He saw the beautiful gopis in the field and was deeply attracted by their beauty and charm. He thought of a wicked plan to kidnap all the gopis in order to marry them. He carried away all the gopis. The gopis started weeping and shouting for help. Hearing their cries, Krishna and Balrama thought of an idea to help them. They uprooted two giant trees and ran towards the evil demi-god to beat him. Seeing the two brothers running towards him, Shankhchoor at once left all the gopis. He started running to save his life from the brothers. Balrama stood to pacify the gopis while Krishna chased the demi-god. He ran and hit Shankhchoor hard on his head. His head burst open and he died. Krishna took out the precious gem that was fixed on Shankhchoor’s forehead and presented it to Balrama.
