Credit cards have facilitated people to make dealings or essential transactions without carrying a huge sum of cash everywhere. The idea of using a card made out of metal sheet was illustrated by Edward Bellamy in 1887 in his novel. Credit cards have been a part of business since the late 19th century. Originally, they were used by particular, stores in order to keep a track of their customers’ credit accounts. The United States was the first country to use a credit card in 1920. In 1946, the first bank credit card was invented by John Bigging of the Flatbush with National Bank of Brooklyn in New York. In 1950, the first national credit card named ‘Dinner Card’ was invented by Frank McNamara to pay restaurant bills and was used by a variety of establishments. In 1958, American Express Company established another major card, which was known as travellers and entertainment card. By the early 1960s, more companies offered credit cards, marketing them as time-saver devices instead a form of credit.
