Cheeks

The cheek represents beauty and sophistication of the face with physical texture. Various states of mind such as love, affection, attachment, anger, shyness, hatred, pleasure are appeared on the cheeks. Moreover, physical health and availability of biological force also signify by means of cheeks. Glow of the cheek is a symbol of good health and pleasure; at the same time blackish, wrinkles, crinkles etc. is a symptom of deterioration of health, disease, progeria. The cheek of the person gets pink shining due to affection or shame, but it becomes reddish in exorbitance of anger and happiness.
The cheek of the person is made up of delicate tissues, muscles, nerves and veins; over which soft, delicate, tender skin is spread. A net of nerves and very thin muscles are spread inside the cheeks, which are able to change in various shapes of the cheek as per requirement. There are different shapes to express different state of mind, which are formed and vanished on time to time through the activation of voluntary muscles. The structure of the cheek is spread below the eyes and both side of the nose as a form of soft layer over zygomatic bone or cheek bone of the skull.
The extension of the cheek bone starts from the lower portion of the eyes to maxilla like a round arch and it goes up to the ears having round shape. This rounded structure of the cheek bone is called zygomatic arch. Zygomatic arch is spread in both side of the nasal bone. In view of anatomy, if nasal cavity is extensive and wide, the cheek bone will also be projecting, therefore, the size of the cheek will be seen wide from frontal view. Likewise if nasal cavity is narrow then upper portion of the face will be narrow and zygomatic bone will become receding.

In view of anatomy and physiology, being cheek bones extensive frontward proves that the person will be potent, laborious, prompt and having highly intellectual capacity. If nasal bone of the person is wide, the person will intake more oxygen, his lungs will supply more oxygenated blood to brain, due to this effect the person will be wiser and more intellectual.
His lungs will be strong and he will not feel tiredness even after doing hard work and will always remain fresh and energetic. On the contrary if the zygomatic bones are narrow, the lungs of the person will be weak, the head will be heavy and inactive. Such person will be less intellectual and physically weak by nature.

Entire structure of the cheek can be divided into two parts. Parallel to the nose upper portion is called upper cheek and lower portion is lower cheek.
Upper Cheek
If a horizontal imaginary line is drawn below the nose, the cheek is divided into two parts. Upper portion is called upper cheek. Structure of the cheek bones, its outgrowth or suppressiveness and shape are studied in upper cheek. As per the size and shape of the zygomatic bone, upper cheek can be divided into two categories :

1. Wide Cheek : Being the cheek bone wide and strong, upper portion of the cheeks become extensive and heavy. The persons having wide cheeks are physically strong, nervous natured, impatient, weak, determined, lazy and fond of eating. Their lungs are strong and brain is active. Such persons are hasty and impatient by nature.

Narrow Cheek : The shape of the cheek looks narrow due to narrowness of zygomatic bones and lack of flesh in the cheek. The persons having narrow cheek are physically weak, shirker and lethargic. Their brain is suffered from negative thinking and unknown fear, but sometimes active and energetic also.

Lower Cheek
The part of the cheek spread below the upper cheek and between upper & lower jaw is called lower cheek. Lower cheek is constituted of soft tissues, fibres, fat, nerves, veins and soft skin. There are two types of lower cheeks :
1. Convex Cheek : Convex cheeks are a sign of abundance of vital power, youth, enthusiasm and valour. The quantity of nutrition, fat, vitamins, blood existed in the body on sufficient quantity. Tissues, nerves and muscles maintain the cheek well-shaped. Due to oldness and weakness muscles become loose and the cheek is hung or wrinkled.

Abnormally fleshy (outgrew) cheek may be the result of over activation of hormones, abundance of vital power, nutrition and fat in the food. In such a situation the body becomes heavy and activity of the brain reduced. It is an ailing and clinical situation.
Concave Cheek : The cheek becomes dry, receded and concave due to lack of nutrition or hormonal imbalance or deficiency. The children, who do not get sufficient nutrition in the childhood, become sufferer of malnutrition. Their body does not develop completely, the shape of their cheeks remains concave. Cheek bones of the person having concave cheek is clearly seen with projection.

Lack of vital power, feebleness, irritation, lack of zeal, deformed amorousness is seen in the persons possessing concave cheek. Such persons are suffered from weakness of digestive system and nervous feebleness. The cheeks become concave on account of debility, oldness or progeria.
Colour of the Cheek
The cheek retains its natural colour, lustre, brightness, glow and tenderness due to good physical and mental health, but natural colour of the cheek is changed in case of alteration in state of mind, over excitement, illness, change in vital power etc. The cheek becomes pale due to the effect of diseases like jaundice, malfunctioning of liver, typhoid. The cheek becomes blackish due to lack of blood and vital power. It becomes blue because of taking poison or effect of poisonous gases.
Likewise the state of mind and over excitement also affect the colour of cheeks. The cheek and ear become pink due to flashness of love, affection, shyness and shame and it becomes reddish in case of anger. The cheeks look glowing, tender in case of satisfaction, patience and happiness. The natural colour of the cheeks stay unchange if state of mind and emotion of the person is stable and he does not get over excited easily.
Dimples of the Cheek
Dimples are appeared due to a specific mutual intricacy in the muscles of the cheek. The size and perspective of dimples are formed, changed, remained or vanished while smiling, laughing or activation of other states of mind. Dimples are supposed to be sign of sophistication, delicacy, sensibility, artistic and emotional nature, presence of dimples enhances the beauty of a person.
