Martha lived with her nanny and her parents in a small town. One day, Martha was alone at home with her nanny. She was playing with her father’s stationery items in his office room when she came across a stapler. She liked the sound the stapler made. She started pressing it carelessly. She took some old newspaper and started stapling them. Suddenly, the stapler broke. Martha was scared. She hid the stapler under the sofa seat. The next day, she saw her father searching for the stapler. At first, she thought of not speaking the truth, or else he would punish her. But she gathered the courage to confess to him, as she knew one should always speak the truth. So, she told her father that she had broken the stapler and hidden it under the sofa seat. Her father was happy, as Martha spoke the truth. He told her not to touch things that she did not know how to operate. She might damage them or might even get hurt herself.
