The Bayon is a beautifully decorated Khmer Temple built in Cambodia, between the late 12th and the early 13th century. The Bayon is at the heart of Angkor Thom, and was considered the official state temple. Its unique feature is the numerous tranquil yet smiling faces on the towers that extend from the upper terrace. The temple is also famous for the set of bas-reliefs that represent a mix of mythological, religious and mundane scenes.
Amazing Fact: There are over 200 identical gigantic stone faces that are dubbed the ‘Mona Lisa of South-East Asia’.
