In the year 1899, Felix Hoffmann made a particular formula and presented it to his father who was suffering from severe arthritis pain. Aspirin gets its name from its consisting ingredients, acetyl chloride ‘A’ and spiraea ulmaria ‘spir’ and another familiar name in medicine comprised of the suffix ‘in’ back then. The miracle medicine aspirin was initially sold in the form of powder. The first of the aspirin tablets were made only in 1915. Aspirin gained a lot of popularity during World War I and from then on emerged as the most sought after medicine of all times, till date.
