Advantages of Cinema

One of the most wonderful gifts of science is the cinema. It has become the most popular source of recreation. The importance of cinema is felt in all the spheres of life—educational, social, political and moral.
Cinema provides a cheap form of entertainment. It takes us away from the hard realities of life. The interesting sources stories, melodious songs and enchanting dances. A town life is incomplete without a cinema.
Cinema is a great source of information. We may not be able to visit all the parts of our country and some foreign countries, but we can learn a lot about them while we see pictures. The news reels and the documentary film make our knowledge up to date about recent development. We see a picture about New York or Washington. We see the American skyscrapers, how the people move in the streets, dresses and manners. No book on geography could give us that clear idea that we get from the film.
We can make the best use of cinema films in imparting education to the students. Almost all the school subjects can easily be taught through films. Geography can nicely be taught by illustrations of different landscapes, mountains, rivers, water-falls, spring and different regions. Experiments in science can be shown on the screen. A film can also serve the purpose of the medium of teaching civics. Likewise, other subjects can also be taught through films.
Cinema helps build a nation as well. In India, where the masses are illiterate and cannot benefit from books and papers, the cinema can be a great force for their good. Films could teach civics and hygiene to the masses. They could show how to keep our streets and cities clean, how to fight disease and live a happy life. Cinema can teach people how to talk well, walk and dress well.
