He duly arrived in Vienna determined to make a mark as a painter. Incidentally it was his third visit to the city.
The first time he came here was when his mother was ill and they lived in Linz. Later, she had gone to Ourpher for treatment. It was a village situated on the bank of Danube. There Adolf had met a man named Kubjec who had introduced him to a girl named Stephenie. That girl was very emotional and friendly. But Adolf did not like the company of girls.
The next time he had come to Vienna with the permission of his mother. He had stayed with a relative.
Vienna was the capital of Austria and it was the premier city of Europe well known for its artistic ambience that attracted or produced great musicians, composers, painters, writers and the likes. It boasted of great royal palaces, mansions, stately buildings, business houses, plazas, squares, markets and the razzle dazzle. It was the home of the royalty, knights, nobles and prominent personalties. The grandeur of Vienna was stupefying for the young Adolf who till then had been living in rural surroundings.
The life style of the city was totally different from what Adolf has experienced in the villages. He stayed in Vienna on his second visit for two months namely May and June. He felt that Vienna was the only place worth living in. His eyes would sparkle whenever he looked at the shimmering city.
