I shiver at the very thought of the dreadful incident that occurred one night, a few years back. We were staying in a palatial bungalow in Shillong when the incident took place. It was a dark night, when I was sitting in the drawing room alongwith my mother, that a dangerous looking man came in front of our window and began to gaze at us with his fierce eyes.
I was extremely frightened to see him. I told my mother about him. My mother is a woman of guts. She shouted, “Who are you? What do you want?”
The robber got scared of my mother. He hid himself behind the bushes in the garden.
Thereafter he ran away to save himself from my mother’s wrath.
My mother got furious and ran after him, but he had already fled away after stealing away the precious jewellery from the Almirahs situated in other rooms.
We rang up the nearby police station and told them all about the robber, who had stolen away our precious jewellery.
We knew that by sparing the robber we would be encouraging the crime. Thus, we directed the policemen to catch the robber immediately red-handed, otherwise he would rob the other people.
Two days after the police commissioner informed us that they have caught the robber and are going to send him in the jail. They sent our valuable jewellery back to us.
