A Deep Bond

There was a deep bond between Hanuman and Rama which came to the fore during the rest of the story. Even Lakshmana, who was very cautious about anyone who came to his brother, knew that Hanuman was someone whom he could trust completely. With great love and devotion, Hanuman heard of the reason why the brothers had crossed the Pampa river and come to Rishyamooka to meet Sugreeva. He, in turn, told them the story of Sugreeva, who had been thrown out of his kingdom by his brother Vaali. Rama requested Hanuman to take them to Sugreeva. It was the only way they could find Seeta, they said. “And your help will give Sugreeva his wife and kingdom too,” said Hanuman. As it would be difficult for the brothers to climb the mountain, Hanuman expanded his form and put them on his shoulders to carry them up the hillside.
