The Second Voyage of Sindbad the Sailor

Though I had decided not to embark upon any voyages yet, I attempted them again. I chose a good ship with good traders for my second voyage. First, we landed on an island without any people or houses but with plenty of fruits and flowers.

But to my amazement, I slept so well that I was left behind in the island. Nothing was seen in the sea except a huge ball of light. I saw a bird called roc, whose legs were like a tree. I tied myself with my turban to its one leg and was transported to another island, full of huge snakes. They could eat an elephant, and diamonds. Out of the fear of the roc, the snakes came out only at night from hiding.

I learnt that some merchants secured diamonds by throwing meat on the diamonds which the eagles would carry to them. I got myself tied to a large meat piece and was flown through eagles to the traders. When I showed them the diamonds, they took me with them back to Baghdad.

Sindbad paused and requested everyone in the mansion including Hindbad, the porter, to come again next morning to hear his third voyage.
