Wayne and his cousins sat around their grandmother, every night. She told them many magical stories about fairies and goblins. One night, she said, “Every few years, the Fairy Queen comes to earth and chooses a leader.” All his cousins believed these stories, but Wayne did not. “Such things don’t happen anymore,” he protested, “Besides, why should the Fairy Queen need a leader?” Grandma said, “Wayne, a legend says that our family is the guardians of the fairies!” But Wayne did not believe her. One day, Wayne saw a beautiful butterfly caught in the thorns of the rose bush. He freed it and gently placed it on the grass. To his surprise, the butterfly said, “I’m no ordinary butterfly. I am the Fairy Queen and I declare you the leader of the guardian of fairies!” Wayne was shocked! He could hardly believe that his grandmother’s stories were true! From then on, he became more responsible and serious about his leadership.
