The Gamble

The-Gamble

Once, Mulla Nasruddin saw a group of people gambling in the open, while having tea and snacks. He took out a hundred and twenty-five coins and began to gamble. A red-haired man had been lucky for seven times but this time he lost his chance. When Mulla got ready to throw the dice, his donkey moved his tail swiftly to chase a fly. The tail hit Mulla’s hand and a wrong number appeared on the dice. The red-haired man won Mulla’s money. Shocked at this, Mulla picked a stick up and started beating his donkey. The red-haired man encouraged Mulla to play for a last chance. Mulla won every time. Delighted with his luck, Mulla filled his bags with the money he won and tied them on his donkey’s saddle. ‘One must not stay near those people who know how much money you have. You never know what they intend to do to you,’ he thought and rode away.
