Hatim slept in the dark, deep pit, thinking how those thugs had cheated him, but instead of showing anger towards them he pitied them and wondered how he could help them to become better humans, so that no other traveller might be looted by them. That night, a sage came in his dream and said, “Hatim, dig the place where you are sleeping. God wants you to have the treasure that is hidden there, for He knows you will use it in the betterment of human race.” In his dream Hatim said to the sage, “How will I get it out of the pit? It’s so deep.” The sage replied, “Tomorrow there shall be two men here to help you.” Hatim fell into a deep relaxing sleep. Next morning when Hatim woke up, he saw a man climbing down a rope while the other held it tight. Hatim thanked God for His rescuers.
