Hatim Tai walked for several days without any misadventure. He reached the land of bears. He was captured by guards and brought to the palace in front of the King. The King said to him, “You must be the brave Hatim! Now that you are here, you must marry my daughter.” Hatim refused as he could not marry an animal and he was on a mission. He was thrown into the dungeon. That night, a sage came in his dream and said, “Marry her, for only she can save you.” When morning came, Hatim sent word to the King that he was willing to marry his daughter, but he must first see her. Hatim was surprised to see that the Bear King’s daughter was a beautiful woman. Soon they were married. Hatim was pleased to have a kind, compassionate wife, and lived happily with her in royal comforts, forgetting his mission.
