One night, Sheikh Chilli could not sleep well as mosquitoes were bothering him. He tiptoed out of his house and roamed around in the moonlit night. When he came near the well, a large cloud hid the moon. Sheikh wondered where the moon had vanished. The cloud cleared as he looked into the well, and he instantly saw the moon’s reflection. Sheikh thought that the moon had fallen into the well. He screamed, “Oh Allah! The moon has slipped into the well!” He decided he had to rescue the moon for everybody’s sake. So, he got rope from home. He made a noose and threw it into the well, trying to catch the moon. The noose got stuck on a rock and Sheikh thought he had the moon at the rope’s end. He pulled and pulled with all his might. Suddenly, he fell on his back as the rope slipped from his hand. There in the sky, he saw the moon! Silly Sheikh thought he had pulled the moon out of the well and sent it straight back to the sky!
