“I shall not take the medicine,” yelled Princess Amelie. “Fine!” said her nurse, “You just stay in bed till the fever comes down. You will not come for the picnic we are having this weekend.” Amelie promptly burst into tears. “I hate you, O Nurse!” she bawled. “That’s ok,” the nurse told, “We hate many things, but some are necessary!” Princess Amelia gulped and stared at her. “I’ll have the medicine,” she said in a small voice. “That’s a good girl,” said the nurse, giving her a teaspoonful of the pink mixture. Amelie made a face but drank it. Soon, she began to feel better. The nurse told her a story and she fell asleep, dreaming of the picnic. By the next evening, her fever had gone. When Sunday dawned, she was ready for the picnic. Princess Amelie hugged the nurse saying, “You make me drink horrid things! But I love you! I’m glad that I can go on the picnic!”
