Nathan counted his money carefully. “I’m going, Dad. Patrick and I will see a movie and eat out,” Nathan said. He was eleven years old. He did not want a childish birthday party with cake and candles. Nathan and Patrick watched ‘Wall-E’. While they walked to the restaurant, Nathan glanced under the town bridge. He saw a boy, around seven years of age, dirty and cold, huddled against his dog, shivering. Nathan said, “Patrick! Hope you won’t mind. Another friend will join us.” Saying so, Nathan asked the little boy what had happened. The little boy was lost. Nathan took him and his dog for dinner. They all ate heartily at a food stall. Then, they looked for the boy’s house. The family was quite poor. The mother cried with relief at finding her son and thanked Nathan and Patrick. Just before going home, Nathan gave his new jacket to the boy, thinking, ‘This was the best birthday I ever had!’
