Long ago, a couple, Thomas and Nancy Lincoln, had a baby-boy in their one-room log cabin. They fondly named him Abraham. As Abraham grew up, he faced failure many times. When he was 21, his business failed and he faced huge losses. At the age of 22, he was defeated in a legislative race. Then, he failed again in a business at the age of 24. Sadly, when he was 26 years old, the girl whom he dearly loved, died. Poor Abraham had a nervous breakdown at the age of 27. When he was 37 years old, Abraham again lost a Congressional race. He also failed to become the Vice-President at the age of 47 and lost a Senatorial race at 49. Despite all these failures, Abraham did not give up. Finally, at 52, he was elected the 16th President of the United States of America. Abraham Lincoln led his country through the American Civil War and abolished slavery. He never lost the belief that he could make a positive difference to the world.
