The Super Girl

Wendy was deaf. She was loved by everyone, but hardly anyone played with her. Children feared she might get hurt playing the games. The elders thought she would not understand them, so a very few tried to communicate with her. Thus, Wendy felt lonely and sad. One day, Wendy’s friend Molly convinced the elders to declare a ‘Deaf Day’. They agreed to wear earplugs and try to talk and play like Wendy. So, next Sunday, everyone wore earplugs. At first, they found it funny, but later realised how difficult Wendy found it to communicate, not hearing a thing! In spite of this, she was the only one who could communicate perfectly with sign language and gestures. They now made an effort to talk to her and involve her in their activities. Many of them learnt the sign language. Wendy was rarely alone now, with so many friends to play with and talk to! She was a happy child.
